The Forbidden Kingdom

Day 1:  Arrival in Kathmandu early with enough time for permit procedure - 15:00 fly out in the to the City of Lakes, Pokhara

 

Day 2;  Flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, then a 4-hour ride to Kagbeni (2800m) along the Kali Gandhi River.  From here you can relish in a superlative view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.  Overnight at a lodge in Kagbeni.

 

Day 3;  Ride & trek from Kagbeni to Tsaile (3100m) 5-6 hours riding along the bank of Kali Gandaki River to Tangbe village. We ride past some Buddhist monasteries and Chortens up into the  on rocky ridges to Tsaile.   Overnight at a lodge.

Day 4; Between 6 and 7 hours ride and trek from Tsaile to Syangboche (3600m) via Rachung Cave.  Riding along Ridge Canyon with reach Taklam LA Pass (3624 m) through some steep terrain.  The view of Nilgiri Himal (7061 m)

Is mesmerising - this is why we are here, for these views! Overnight at a lodge. 

 

Day 5; About 6 hours riding and trekking today from Syangboche to Drakmar (3820m) within sight of the Dhaulagiri ranges.  Passing several monasteries, Chortens and interesting small villages on the way. Overnight at a lodge in Drakmar.

 

Day 6: Some 7 hours ride & trek today from Drakmar to Lo-Manthang (3810m) via Ghar Gompa, the oldest Buddhist monastery in Mustang.  Reaching Marang-La (4230m) our highest point on this ride, then on down to Lo-Manthang the famous walled capital of the Kingdom of Mustang, known for is colourful rugged houses.  Overnight at a lodge in Lo-Manthang.

 

Day 7:  Exploration Day, riding and hiking up to Chosar village and Jhang Cave, returning to Lo-Manthang for overnight.  The view from Chosar village is quite breath-taking. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 8: Between 3 and 4 hours riding and trekking from Lo-Manthang to Tsarang (3560m) along the Tsarang Khola river.  Tsarang has an interesting Monastery and Palace to explore.  Overnight at a lodge in Tsarang.

 

Day 9:  Another 6 -7 hours riding and trekking today from Tsarang to Syangboche (3500m) passing many Mani walls, Chortens, and Buddhist monasteries before reaching Ghami-La and Nyi-La passes. Then following little mountain steam to our overnight lodge in Syangboche.

 

Day 10: About 6 to 7 hours riding and trekking from Syangboche to Chhusang (2980m) we reach Yamdo-La (4010m) before descending to Bhena, Samar, and Tsaile following again the flow of the Kali Gandaki river. Overnight at a lodge in Chhusang.

 

Day 11: Our last ride, 5 - 6 hours riding and trekking from Chhusang back to Jomsom passing many beautiful small villages on the way.  Overnight at a lodge in Jomsom.

 

Day 12:  Flight from Jomsom to Pokhara and another afternoon flight back to Kathmandu arriving around 15:35 pm. There is a splendid view of the Himalayas on this flight.  Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.

 

Day 13: Final Departure from Kathmandu.  Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight
